First, we want to extend our heartfelt thanks to everyone who so generously shared their precious memories and submitted so many beautiful images for our African Portfolio Photo Contest! We had a terrific time collecting and browsing through them, but we were at the same time immensely thankful not to have to select the winner ourselves. We are therefore also enormously grateful to our competition judge, Jeff Bark – an accomplished American photographer who has worked in all corners of the globe, and whose art is showcased in renowned collections around the world.
Here are the winners and in their own words ….
This was photographed at Victoria Falls, where the spray from the rushing water and the sunlight converged to make it feel like we’d found the end of the rainbow.

This memory makes me ponder how in this moment of serene beauty, a powerful animal bides its time. As the lioness watches her Wildebeest prey, she prepares to pounce into potentially gruesome chaos. I realize whether or not she succeeds may impact the form of the beauty, but that beauty will never be destroyed.

The photo was taken in the Northern Serengeti at dusk driving back to the Lemala Kuria Hills Lodge. Hauntingly beautiful are the words I would use. The colors of the sky were magical. as a background for the vulture resting on the “haunted tree”. It was the same day as we saw the Great Migration crossing the Mara River. A very spiritual day with the better images captured in my heart and brain rather than by my camera.
