Day 1

Chinzombo Camp is wildly luxurious offering levels of comfort, style and elegance previously unseen to the Luangwa Valley, but still retaining a small, personalized and authentic feel. Mchenja Bush Camp offers a safari experience that is the epitome of intimate. With just five stylish tents huddled under the nurturing shade of ebony trees (in fact, the name Mchenja means ‘ebony’), this riverside camp feels like a carved-out corner of bush paradise. Each spacious, octagonal tent features tasteful Africa furnishings and appointments, as well as a private en-suite shower, open-air bathroom facilities and Victorian-style bath with a view of the Luangwa River. Activities at camp are tailored to the whim of the guest: whether you wish to take to the wilds in an open-air vehicle, join a guide on an invigorating and illuminating walking safari, or simply lounge by the plunge pool. Night game drives are a highlight: expert guides shine a spotlight on some of the nocturnal species here, including hyena, porcupine, civet, genet, honey badger and leopard.  No matter when you set off to explore, you can return to the comfort of camp and relax in the shaded lounge, charmingly built around a fallen ebony tree.  At dinner, you may wish to enjoy a candlelit meal along the riverbank, just as the stars begin to twinkle in the wide African sky.

Designed to complement its natural setting, Chiawa is an idyllic escape well situated for explorations in Lower Zambezi National Park. The 8 en-suite tents are ensconced in a grove of mahogany trees, with private verandahs perfect for relaxing and enjoying your idyllic location on the Zambezi River.
