Please Specify African Portfolio is referenced in Fodor’s travel guide book.
Comment: I called other safari companies but no one seemed to really “get” what we were looking for and I immediately felt comfortable with and confident in Victoria.  She planned the perfect trip and made excursion suggestions we loved.

Comment: In Johannesburg my bag was lost for about an hour and the rep that greeted us there went above and beyond and found it in the airport basement before we had to leave on our next flight.
What additional information (if any) would you have liked to receive prior to your departure from home? We were very prepared as I had worked with Victoria on numerous occasions to ask questions prior to the trip.
How would you describe your accommodation, facilities and meals? Please provide the name of the hotel, lodge or camp you are describing. Machaba Camp- -Tent accommodations were great, common area very pretty, meals were fantastic and I asked if they sold cookbooks with their recipes.  Having the delta/river right behind us made animal viewing at the camp superb.

Victoria Falls Safari Lodge- -Very nice room, great location with waterhole viewing.  Restaurant had very good food with a good variety.

Savanna Lodge- -Outstanding lodge room- -super plush with a wonderful plunge pool and great animal viewing from our own deck.  There was also a waterhole behind our deck so there were always animals there- -elephants, warthogs, etc.  Meals were excellent and there was always something for everyone, even picky eaters.  The common area was beautiful.  Lovely library and great gift shop where we bought African dolls.

What and where was your favorite meal of the trip? The special outdoor bush meal by candlelight described below.  It was a wonderful buffet with a variety of dishes.
How would you evaluate your safari guides and staff? Please provide the name of the person you are describing. Machaba Camp- -Elka (manager) and Leopard (guide) were superb.  They went out of their way to ensure everything was perfect and Leopard ensured we saw everything possible while on safari.

Savanna- -Derrick (guide) and Edward (tracker) were superb.  They worked tirelessly to track the more elusive animals like leopards and cheetahs.  Derrick and Edward seemed as in awe of the animals as we were which made it even more special.   Maggie our server at meals was so warm and accommodating.

Was there anything you would have liked more of, less of, or done differently? No, it was perfect.  The order of visiting Botswana, Vic Falls, and South Africa was ideal.
What was your most memorable moment in Africa? There were several, but two of most favorite were having the special nighttime outdoor bush meal at Savanna with all the wonderful lanterns and candlelit tables.  I felt like I was in a movie.

The other was watching two young leopard cubs wait for their mother to come back at dusk.  Each was on a separate tall hill with the sunset behind them.

If you could give future travelers one word of advice, what would it be? The travel time to get to Africa is well worth the payoff, which was the trip of a lifetime for us.  Also, not to be worried about food (variety or risk of getting sick), safety, or mosquitoes which were never an issue for us because the accommodations were so upscale.
