How would you rate your trip overall? Excellent
Comment: It was a trip of a lifetime but was so great that we want to go again!
What was the most important reason for choosing AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? Referral
How many safari companies did you consider before selecting AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? Three or Four
Comment: Everyone from the lodge staff to the butlers to the guides/rangers to the hotel concierges and staff were terrific.  They were all such nice people and couldn’t do enough for us.
What additional information (if any) would you have liked to receive prior to your departure from home? We really didn’t need anything else from you…although there was a lot to do to get ready…we had all we needed from you.  Excellent preparation!
How would you describe your accommodation, facilities and meals? Please provide the name of the hotel, lodge or camp you are describing. Elephant Camp, &Beyond Sandibe, the Cape Grace, Delaire Graff and Singita Boulders were all top notch! Sandibe’s architecture and accommodations were beautiful…loved the copper sinks and the pangolin shape.  Delaire Graff’s grounds sculpture and vineyard were amazing and our room just beautiful.  Singita Boulders was also beautiful and the game drives amazing. Lovely room at the Cape Grace overlooking the harbor and the concierges were terrific…felt like we were their personal guests…great gift shop too.
What and where was your favorite meal of the trip? There were so many…ostrich at Aubergine in Capetown and the magical dinner at La Colombe.  Meals at the camps were wonderful…honestly just loved the food everywhere and the waiters and sommeliers couldn’t have been better trained or more accommodating.
How would you evaluate your safari guides and staff? Please provide the name of the person you are describing. Tsamba at Sandibe and Piet at Singita (and their trackers) were both fabulous. We didn’t just see the animals we experienced some of the action and drama of the bush…it is wild and quite harsh sometimes but very real and exciting.  We saw the Big Five and the Magnificent Seven.  On just one morning drive at Singita, we saw all of the Big Five!

The guides were very nice, polite, patient, well spoken and so knowledgeable about every plant, tree, flower, bird and animal we saw and could literally spot them all a mile away.  Our photos are terrific thanks to our guides’ ability to find the animals and position us to photograph them without getting in the way of the action.  I can still hear Piet’s beautiful voice singing at one of the entertainments put on by the staff at Sandibe!  Such fun!

Was there anything you would have liked more of, less of, or done differently? Not really…we loved having a trip that was varied…animals in the bush to wine tasting at Le Lude!
What was your most memorable moment in Africa? Mating lions, mother leopard and two cubs perched in a tree with their kill hanging above them and the hyenas waiting at the foot of the tree, the bright red African setting sun, animals drinking at the Sand River viewed from our room and seeing the majesty of the giraffes.  Wining, dining and shopping in Capetown and the Winelands and seeing the beautiful Cape coast.
If you could give future travelers one word of advice, what would it be? Go to Africa as soon as you can and don’t let the distance deter you!
