Overview

This bush adventure harkens back to yesteryear, offering a traditional safari featuring an outstanding wildlife experience in simple, comfortable accommodations. You'll be met at Lusaka airport and transfer by air to Kafue National Park, the country's oldest national park. This area is home to an abundant variety of wildlife, including lion and leopard. Musekese Camp is set close to the Kafue River. Activities are split between walking, boating and driving. Additionally, there is also a hide on the opposite bank of the river overlooking a flooded dambo area which provides wonderful opportunities for those guests keen on photography. The adventure continues with a short flight down to the Lower Zambezi for a further 4 nights, divided between Tusk & Mane's Kutali and Chula Island camps. The region is home to a diverse array of wildlife including elephant, hippos, crocodiles, zebra and antelope as well as a myriad of birdlife. Kutali is tucked away amongst the Winterthorn trees, there are 4 tents which have been designed to make the most of the Lower Zambezi environment – they are simple gauze tents with canvas drop down sides, which blend into nature. There is an en-suite bathroom with bucket showers and flushing loos. Chula Island Camp is located on the Katengahumba /Discovery Island, offering a delightful contrast. Enjoy bush walks and canoeing in addition to game drives on the banks of the mighty Zambezi river. Evenings are spent trading stories around the campfire.

Set in the heart of western Zambia, Kafue National Park is the country’s biggest and oldest National Park. Three rivers form the lifeblood of the reserve namely the Lufupa, Lunga and Kafue rivers with the annual summer flood of the Lufupa creating an impressive floodplain delta. The floodplains, rivers, and woodlands support an impressive array of animal and birdlife and a number of private lodges make this remarkable reserve easier to visit.
Perched on the edge of a spectacular lagoon hidden away from the outside world Musekese has made a name for itself with expert guiding, exceptional food and phenomenal wildlife. Explore this game rich area by vehicle, foot, or boat along the emerald green Kafue River. Musekese Camp has only four chalets taking a maximum of eight people, and with a minimum of two guides on hand at any time you are entirely assured of activities taken at your pace and interest.

Located on the Zimbabwean border in the southern reaches of Zambia, the Lower Zambezi region is best known as the home to the Lower Zambezi National Park which features exceptional, undeveloped wildlife areas. It is renowned for its abundant game and a variety of different wildlife can be spotted such as hippos, buffalo, crocodiles, fish eagles and herds of elephants. The landscape features rugged unspoilt wilderness made up of vast floodplains scattered with indigenous woodlands. Visitors can look forward to an array of wonderful activities along the Zambezi including game drives, walking safaris, canoe trips and excellent tiger fishing.
Kutali Camp is on Kulefu Island. Kutali is your classic Winterthorn forest Zambezi Valley camp in one of the coolest Faidherbia or Winterthorn forests in the lower Zambezi. Kulefu Island offers excellent canoeing and walking possibilities and is just a river crossing away from the mainland for game drives.

Chula Island Camp

Itinerary Details

Chula means frog in Goba – the local language in this area. It is located on the Katengahumba /Discovery Island and is the nearest site to Jeki Airfield. This island is like jurassic park …full of surprises, including hidden lagoons and open dambos. The game is unbelievable with frequent sightings of leopard, lion, hyena , buffalo herds and lots of elephant. There is actually no need to venture further than this island paradise. The atmosphere on Chula is very different to anywhere else , it even looks different with loads of Natal Mahogany trees and sandy beaches,the perfect contrast to Kutali Camp.
