How would you rate your trip overall? Very Good
What was the most important reason for choosing AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? Good rapport with Anouk. Anouk did a wonderful job answering questions and working with me, through thick and thin, to make this safari happen.
How many safari companies did you consider before selecting AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? Three or Four
How would you rate AFRICAN PORTFOLIO’S representatives in Africa?
How would you describe your accommodation, facilities and meals?
Very good accommodation and meals mostly fine. We are vegetarians, and the hotels had limited options.
What and where was your favorite meal of the trip?
At Imbabala: bean soup, vegetarian stew for main course. Hearty and delicious. Imbabala did the best veg meals for us.
How would you evaluate your safari guides and staff?
Our guides, Nicholas at the Hide and Stan at Imbabala, were excellent.
Sarah, our host at Imbabala, was excellent.
Staff at the Hide were very good. There were lots of them, and lots of guests, so more impersonal. We had dinner one night with just our family and Ian, which was very nice.
Was there anything you would have like more of, less of, or done differently?
I work with people all day, so on vacation, I want to be with my family and not engaging in lots of small talk with strangers. At the Hide one has dinner in big groups, which is wonderful for some people, but the low point for me for our stay there. We did eventually get our own table. And dining with a few others was fine. Not 15.
What was your most memorable moment in Africa?
Discussing the non-coup going on. This really helped us feel what this country was like for the staff and guides.
Zelda’s birthday breakfast on the water at Imbabala was fabulous.
Sitting under the trees noticing small things with Nicholas at the Hide was lovely.
If you could give future travelers one word of advice, what would it be?
Don’t worry about what animals you see. Appreciate the incredible landscape and stars in the sky. Everything else is a lovely surprise addition.
