First off, our trip was wonderful. We have traveled quite a bit and this was hands down our best trip! The transfers between all our different lodges worked flawlessly. Each driver was not only on time, he/she was early! We enjoyed the information the drivers shared during the drives and they made the unfamiliar transfer/immigration procedures a breeze. We never had one stressful moment! I also need to say that you personally and your company in general are highly regarded for your organizational skills and follow through. Several lodges and transfer companies mentioned how much they enjoy working with you.
How would you rate your trip overall? Excellent Comment: A truly magical trip in all respects! The accommodations were wonderful, the food exceptional (we both gained weight . . .), the people phenomenal, the animals unbelievable. We could not be more happy with our trip and will definitely make another trip to Africa.
What was the most important reason for choosing AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? Referral Comment: Susan was recommended by a “friend of a friend”. We are SO pleased we received this recommendation.
How many safari companies did you consider before selecting AFRICAN PORTFOLIO?
Five or More
How would you rate AFRICAN PORTFOLIO’S representatives in Africa?
South Africa Excellent
Comment: We are truly amazed with the ease of each and every transfer. Every transfer vehicle was not only on time – the driver was early! The drivers were all wonderful about sharing their expertise with us and held our hands through each transfer. Could not be more impressed with the smoothness of the transfers!
What additional information (if any) would you have liked to receive prior to your departure from home? The only surprise was that our Uni Visa wasn’t good for entry into Zambia when we needed to catch a plane at Livingstone and we had to pay an additional $100 US for the two of us for a VISA. We had the US cash on hand so it wasn’t a problem but it would be good for people to know this if the are going from Botswana into Zambia to catch a plane.
What additional information (if any) would you have liked to receive from our representatives in Africa while on safari? Nothing – they were all excellent!
How would you describe your accommodation, facilities and meals? Please provide the name of the hotel, lodge or camp you are describing. Chobe Princess: Fantastic in all regards; game viewing from the tender was unbelievable. LOVED Robert, our guide.
Muchenje: Loved the cottage with the sweeping views, great food, awesome staff. YAHOO!
Nottens: Our favorite! Loved the ambience, amazing food, fabulous game drives. The best!!
Kambaku River Sands: Wonderful! Fabulous deck.
What and where was your favorite meal of the trip? Nottens: The owner bar-b-qued a filet that was amazing! Changed the setting for each dinner which was very fun.
Kambaku: At the end of an afternoon game drive, we were taken to a site in the bush – away from the lodge – and had an amazing bar-b-que dinner complete with dancing and singing. Magical!
How would you evaluate your safari guides and staff? Please provide the name of the person you are describing. Chobe Princess (Robert): Super hard working. Took us out 3 times a day in the tender and showed us animals and birds non-stop. The best!
Muchenje (Lips): Did a fine job for us, particularly on the all day combo boat drive/land drive and a night drive.
Nottens (Tulani): Awesome! Enthusiastic and very fun.
Muchenje (Palance): Superb!
Was there anything you would have like more of, less of, or done differently?
We loved our 4 game lodges and actually would have enjoyed going to another lodge. We never tired of the drives and the animals. Not being “city people”, our time in Cape Town was not on a par with the game drives. When we return to Arica, we will definitely be game lodge focused.
What was your most memorable moment in Africa?
Watching elephants swim the Chobe River, the leopards that came to our camp at night at Nottens, elephants that came to the pool at Kambaku for an afternoon drink, the view from the deck at Muchenje. The amazing friends we made at each and every camp. The kindness and warmth of the staff at each and every location. EVERY DAY WAS A BLESSING!
If you could give future travelers one word of advice, what would it be?
