How would you rate your trip overall? Excellent Comment: We absolutely loved our trip and the whole thing went so smoothly. It’s so much moving around and transferring but we so appreciate all Anouk did to ensure it went off without a hitch.
What was the most important reason for choosing AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? Referral Comment: Our friend Alison Feller booked her honeymoon through African Portfolio and raved about every single thing and was a huge factor in our decision!
How many safari companies did you consider before selecting AFRICAN PORTFOLIO? One or Two
How would you rate AFRICAN PORTFOLIO’S representatives in Africa? Tanzania – Very Good, Kenya – Excellent
What additional information (if any) would you have liked to receive prior to your departure from home? Nothing! Anouk prepared us very well.
What additional information (if any) would you have liked to receive from our representatives in Africa while on safari? N/A
How would you describe your accommodation, facilities and meals? Please provide the name of the hotel, lodge or camp you are describing. We loved our experiences at all 3 places, but particularly LOVED Saruni Samburu. We felt like we really connected with the staff there (Kennedy and Johan stood out), the camp itself was amazing, and we just felt so happy/relaxed there. We enjoyed Saruni Mara as well, and Kilindi. Our only “issue” with Kilindi was that our room had a lot of ants.
What and where was your favorite meal of the trip? We loved our dinner at House of Waine, and a delicious mushroom pasta for lunch one day at Saruni Samburu!
How would you evaluate your safari guides and staff? Please provide the name of the person you are describing. We were with Joseph at Saruni Samburu and with LeMeria (likely botched that spelling!) at Saruni Mara. They were very different, but both did a fantastic job of finding incredible wildlife for us to see, answering our questions, etc. Our butler at Kilindi was Lilian and she was beyond kind and helpful.
Was there anything you would have like more of, less of, or done differently? N/A
What was your most memorable moment in Africa? In the Mara, we were out for a night drive and got to drive alongside lions as they hunted, killed, and ate, gazelles. It was unreal.
If you could give future travelers one word of advice, what would it be? I would say to pace yourself – we definitely were super ambitious and wanted to do everything at the first camp, and it left us feeling a bit tired/burned out by the end. Also, to be prepared and aware of the number of bugs/lizards, ec.,
