Our trip was excellent surpassing our expectations. Perfect order of places to visit; ideal lengths of time at each; more engagement with local people than I had thought possible; carefully prepared food for my son with food allergies. We were very well prepared through the information given and the call with Anouk a week prior to departure. In terms of the camps and lodges: Tortilis in Amboseli was wonderful/food was fantastic. Saruni Samburu was truly extraordinary — unlike anything I’ve experienced. Stunning. Saruni Mara was lovely and exceptional food but I preferred Saruni Wild for its proximity to the conservancy and for the old world tented safari vibe — also fantastic food and Ocean Spa was magical. Our favorite meal was the breakfasts on game drives but think Saruni Samburu’s setting for dinner is hard to beat. Eating at Tortilis and looking at the watering hole and stars was also exquisite. Our safari guides and camp staff were exceptional: Alex, our guide at Amboseli was wonderful. Simon and James at Samburu went beyond the possible when tracking cheetah; Nicole the assistant manager was lovely too. William and Kisime at Saruni Mara and Wild are truly at the top of the heap. Just amazing men. And Saruni Ocean’s management team made our stay heavenly — nothing was too much trouble. It was truly a perfect itinerary. Anouk did an incredible job arranging a trip that exceeded our expectations by leaps and bounds. We have many memorable moments including the chance to observe three cheetahs in a incredible (and successful) chase of a reed buck. An amazing full rainbow with Kilimanjaro in the background. Arriving at Saruni Samburu. Swimming in the Indian Ocean. Game drive breakfast by the hippo pool in the Mara. If you could give future travelers one word of advice, what would it be? It doesn’t matter if wifi is available. Pretend it is not and take this special time to truly unplug and really talk to the locals you are spending time with.
