Tanda Tula Safari Lodge merges with the natural environment by design: the 12 tents here are set in an unfenced area in the midst of a wide expanse of undisturbed wilderness of Timbavati Private Nature Reserve. Common areas include an infinity pool, a bar and authentic boma (a great place to enjoy the award-winning cuisine). The en-suite tents are havens of luxury, with traditional Victorian bathtubs and an outdoor shower overlooking the bush and nearby riverbed. The interiors are elegantly furnished and thoroughly African, and each private deck is complete with loungers ideal for relaxing in the cool of the morning or evening. Yet it is perhaps the activities at Tanda Tula that truly make it unique. In addition to morning and afternoon game drives, the expert guides and game rangers create other thrilling bush experiences: bush walks and picnics (barbeque at the waterhole, anyone?), as well as romantic dinners in the bush and the exhilarating star bed experience. Tanda Tula is also the only camp in the region to offer an Overnight Walking Safari experience: set off into the wilderness for two days, discovering the bush as the early explorers did. Your meals will be cooked over an open fire, traditional bush kitchen style, and you will sleep in raised platforms that, while rustic, still include delightful comforts: oil lanterns, camp beds, bush showers and even a bathroom.
