Serian Camp

Serian Camp is an exclusive wilderness camp set alongside a secluded valley flanking the Mara River close to the Siria Escarpment. This is part of the Serengeti ecosystem and is famous for its migratory herds of wildebeest, large concentrations of predators, elephants and diversity of large mammal species. Serian Luxury Tented Camp is run by one of Africa’s most professional guides and naturalists, Alex Walker, combines both the traditional safari with uncompromised luxury. The private marquee tents are set in the shade of large Oleadendra and Walburgia trees that cover the site, a tranquil setting that borders one of the finest Game Reserves in the world. The Camp has eight en-suite luxury tents, each furnished in rich warm textures mixed with natural hard woods. They feature comfortable, colonial style furnishing with a little eastern “spice”. They are constructed of canvas and supported by hardwood poles with the interior walls and ceilings made from Kenyan canvas. Entry to each tent is through a screened door that zips closed to form a totally insect proof barrier. The verandah is furnished with two directors chairs and a small round drinks table. The “bedroom” marquee is fitted with large double beds flanked by twin bedside tables and a writing desk. The adjoining “bush bathroom” area includes a shower, twin basins, and a large bush bathtub and flush toilet. Hanging swathes of cotton and canvas walls provide complete privacy. The Mess deck and indoor fireplace leave one with the impression of having found a home away from home! Enjoying an expansive view of the Mara river and the Oloololo escarpment, the deck area plays host to a great deal of wining and dining. Activities include morning and afternoon games drive and game walks. Wilderness walks escorted by an armed guide provide an opportunity for one to appreciate the ‘Little Five’ and notice all the unique savannah flora and fauna at close quarters. Guests also may find time to seek out the local Maasai customs and traditions which highlight their age old, nomadic, pastoral existence.
