Ongava Tented Camp is situated on the plains along the southern boundary of Etosha National Park in the 30 000-hectare, privately owned Ongava Game Reserve. The camp it overlooks a waterhole at which a plethora of wildlife congregates to drink. Relaxation typically takes place around the main area – made of stone, canvas and thatch with bar and swimming pool – watching the diverse wildlife happenings in front of camp. Eight large comfortable Meru-style tents, all with en-suite facilities, open air showers and private verandas, accommodate 16 guests. The family unit sleeps four. The camp also has a small pool. Guided morning and afternoon/evening game drives take place on the 30 000-hectare private Ongava Game Reserve. The reserve is famed for its population of rhino as well as lion and other game such as antelope, including endemic black-faced impala, and zebra. Full- or half-day guided morning and afternoon game drives in Etosha, Namibia’s prime savannah wilderness area are available. See the massive salt pan as well as the perennial springs that provide the water required by the Park’s high-density big game population. Offered seasonally and subject to an available walking guide, nature walks through the area take in the abundant array of life, from unusual plants to arid-adapted animals, with a chance of tracking rhino.
